My name is Sam and like most recruiters, I fell into recruitment quite by accident. Having worked in London, Dublin and Glasgow, I have worked with lots of different people! I have (on time of writing this) been doing this for over 5 years and it’s been a roller-coaster!
Recruitment is often seen as an easy job, but it is a sales job first and foremost. But unlike most sales jobs, your product (candidates) can change their minds (breaks my heart). But it is also one of the most satisfying things in the world, you can really make a difference to someone’s life by helping them get the job they want.
You can help companies grow through crucial hires and you can really make a difference to people’s lives. Due to the fields I have worked in; Architecture, IT, Science and Pharmaceutical, and Horticulture I can see a real difference in the successful placements I have made. Though every sector is different and has their own unique set of challenges, we are all human and want the same thing and I endeavour to make sure people can get those things.
I have done most recruitment styles, and I decided to do this blog to share some of my experiences with you. Some good and some bad. You may find that you are in a situation and that I have written something on the topic. It may be the little nudge you need to decide one way or the other.
